Nyerere

Clocking in at 47,500 square kilometers, the Nyerere National Park reigns supreme as Africa's largest. Stretching over three times the size of Serengeti National Park, this vast expanse of dry woodland shelters what might be the world's biggest remaining populations of buffalo, hippo, and lion. It's also the most critical global sanctuary for the endangered African wild dog.

Despite its size, this park boasts a captivating atmosphere. Dense miombo woodlands dominate the landscape, punctuated by the majestic presence of the wide, palm-lined Rufiji River and its intricate network of interconnected lakes and channels. Most visitors arrive by light aircraft, offering an exhilarating aerial view.
