Safari Travel for Seniors and Children
Children
We are happy to have children accompany their parents/guardians on their safari through Tanzania. Our guides have been working with wildlife for many years and can assure our guests’ safety, if the rules, instructions and recommendations are obeyed. However, we would like to point out that safaris require a bit of patience, for example when searching for animals in the national parks, or when driving to the next destination. These periods of waiting can be difficult for children, especially if they are younger. Also, the roads are often bumpy on safari, there are insects, and Western bathroom facilities are not always available. Ultimately, you know your children best, and can decide if this kind of trip will be a positive experience for them. We believe that being this close to nature and seeing animals such as zebras and giraffes outside the local zoo can be a wonderful experience for any child - especially on our fun and educational bush walks. If you decide to bring your children, prepare them in advance for what they may or may not experience, and set the expectations for the trip thoroughly. We can help by customizing a safari for you so that road trips are shorter, there are more walking safaris if your kids are highly energetic, and by choosing lodges that are more family-friendly, with more cultural activities and games.
Seniors & guests with limited mobility
We are especially delighted to offer our safaris to seniors. Our team members regularly take our parents on safaris to discover new destinations for Tarakwai. With our driving safaris, seniors can sit back in our comfortable vehicles and our driver guides will navigate through remarkable scenery and get up close to spectacular wildlife. Though some drives between destinations can be long, there is so much to see in Tanzania that is within close proximity to each other, that we can also create itineraries with shorter driving times and more stops in between, if necessary. With our walking safaris, we will work together to find the ideal duration for them, and if anything gets too much, we can always have our driver/guide pick you up from where you are. There are also options for lodges that are easier to navigate, with more paved pathways, better lighting and no stairs. In the morning and evenings, when you are not exploring, there will be plenty of opportunities to sit back and enjoy the ever-changing sights and sounds around you.
