The Yoga Practice

While on safari, since schedules can change to find the best wildlife sightings and make room for walking adventures, your yoga sessions will be adaptable. Your instructor will aim to fit in at least one yoga practice each day, depending on the free time available and how everyone in the group is feeling.

In Zanzibar there will be a twice daily yoga practice. Each session is in a spacious Shala nearby the Indian Ocean. The morning practice will be active and focused on connecting movement and breath. You will be guided into asanas (postures) through well-combined sequences themed specially for each day. The late afternoon practice will be a combination of yin yoga, yoga nidra (deep relaxation), meditation, and sound therapy.

Meet the Instructor: Mie Horiuchi

Mie is a 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher by Yoga Alliance. She is also an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT), which acknowledges the experience of over 1000 hours of actual teaching. Mie strongly feels that yoga practice is for everyone, regardless of age, physical conditions, social-economic status. She does her very best to make the sequence accessible to practitioners of all levels.

“There is a depth, an intensity to the experience of the practice with Mie. Intentionally sequenced, carefully composed, beautifully fluid: it’s a journey through all the layers to heart and to truth.”
